Pretty Sweet Gelato ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains what personal information we collect through prettysweetgelato.com, why we collect it, and how you can reach us about it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Gelato cake orders: your name, email, phone number, pickup date, and the cake details you choose (size, flavours, message, notes).
- Event and catering requests: your name, email, phone number, and event details such as the date, location, type of event, number of guests and any notes you add.
- Flavour alerts: your email address, the flavours you pick, whether you want to hear about them in the case or in pints, your consent, and when we last emailed you about each flavour.
- Flavour suggestions: the flavour idea you send and, if you choose to add it, your first name.
- Staff accounts: for our team members only, the email address and sign-in details used to update flavours on the site.
- Technical information: like most websites, our site and its hosting provider automatically handle basic technical data (for example your browser type and a temporary visitor token saved in your browser) so the site works and stays secure.
How we use it
- To reply to you, send quotes, and prepare and confirm your cake order or event.
- To send you an automatic email confirming we received your request.
- If you sign up for flavour alerts, to email you when a flavour you picked is back. We send only these alerts, never more than one email about the same flavour within 14 days, and every alert has a one-tap unsubscribe link.
- To decide which new flavours to make.
- To run, secure and improve the website.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We will not add you to marketing emails unless you clearly ask to be added, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share information with the service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed:
- Wix.com hosts our website, stores form submissions and flavour alert sign-ups, and sends our confirmation and flavour alert emails.
- Square processes e-gift card purchases. When you buy a gift card you are taken to Square's secure checkout, and Square's own privacy policy applies to that purchase.
- Google Maps and Instagram content shown on our pages is provided by those companies, which may collect information under their own policies when the content loads.
These providers may store information on servers outside Canada, such as in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep order and request details for as long as we need them to serve you and keep normal business and tax records, and then delete them. Flavour suggestions we decide not to make are removed from our list. Flavour alert sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes them.
How we protect it
Access to submissions and our staff tools is limited to the owner and approved team members, protected by sign-in. No method of sending or storing information online is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
Cookies, browser storage and analytics
Our site uses a small amount of browser storage to keep it working, for example to remember a temporary visitor session and to prevent repeated flavour suggestions and alert sign-ups.
We use website analytics (Wix Analytics and Google Analytics) to understand how many people visit, which pages they view and how they found us, for example from a search engine or Instagram. These tools use cookies and similar technologies and report visits to us in summary form, not to identify you personally. We don't use them to show you ads. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, unless we need to keep it for legal or business records. You can also withdraw your consent, though we may then be unable to complete an order or request.
Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we ask that children not send us personal information.
